An-Lun Huang

Recognized with the Canadian New Pioneer Award in 2004, Chinese-Canadian composer An-Lun Huang (born in 1949) began his piano lessons at the age of 5, and completed his 1st piano album at age 7. He was been appointed as the composer-in-residence of the Central Opera House of Beijing, and became a member of the China Musicians Association in 1976. He received the Fellowship in Composition, Trinity College of Music, London, in 1983, then completed his Masters Degree of Music at Yale with the Alumni Association‘s prize in 1986. As President of the Chinese Canadian Music Society of Ontario, Mr. Huang devotes himself to promote Chinese Canadian musicians to the multicultural life of Canada since he moved to Toronto in the 1980s.

His music includes more than 20 symphonic works, 11 operatic productions, 3 ballets, 4 large oratorios and numbers of choral, chamber, film music, etc. With numerous awards, Mr. Huang‘s compositions have been widely performed by many of the major symphony orchestras, and warmly received around the world. He was invited to become a member of the Canadian League of Composers.
