Toronto, Ontario Joyce is a Toronto based filmmaker and photographer. Growing up as a second generation Chinese Canadian, her films often explore themes of diversity and the Asian Diaspora experience. In 2006, her debut short Banana Bruises won the Best Fiction Short Award at the Cinesiege showcase (juried by Clement Virgo and Midi Onodera) and was programmed in the Closing Night Gala at the Reel Asian International Film Festival. Her most recent film, Souvenirs from Asia, has been shown at various festivals such as the Montreal International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film and Video Awards and the San Francisco International Asian Film Festival. Ms. Wong is a graduate of York University and has also attended Beijing Film Academy on a research exchange. Most recently, she was selected to participate in the Berlinale Talent Campus in Germany. |
