www.geocities.com/wlwuca Toronto, Ontario William Wu is a composer, music educator and film music composer. Born in Hong Kong, September 17, 1937, William loved music from an early age. He began performing on stage at age 9 and composing at age 14. William published his first Violin Solo score "Country Ditty" which was later selected as teaching material for music conservatories in China. After graduating with honors from the Music Department of the Beijing Teachers University in 1960, William was retained by his alma mater to start teaching in the Beijing Teachers University. He also taught at the Beijing Arts Institute and the National Conservatory of Music from 1960 to 1986. During this period, he also participated in various composing and performing activities. William moved to Hong Kong in 1986 to become the Music Director for the TVB ("Television & Broadcasting Hong Kong Ltd") until 1993, when he retired and moved to Toronto. Mr. Wu is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Film Music Society, and the Hong Kong String Instrument Teachers Association and he is a member of the Chinese Musicians Association, Composers & Authors Society Hong Kong (CASH), and Hong Kong Artists Guild. |
