The four arts of Qin, Qi, Shu, Hua (music, games of logic, poetry /calligraphy, painting) were inspirational in bringing the composers and artists closer to ancient and contemporary Chinese culture. These four disciplines are the training for the mind and the coordination of the hands.
Each of the four sections reflects upon key aspects of each: the strength of music; the playing of “go” as represented by the percussionist playing metal instruments against wood and skins; poetry / calligraphy and the flow of mind and hand; and painting through its creation of other worlds, simply through water color on paper.
