1947 to 1980 was an exiting period for the Chinese Canadian community. Within this period, the Chinese community sprung from it's humble beginning to a strong and active community. The "Exclusion Acts" were successfully repealed. Many Chinese Canadians broke barriers and entered into many professions once forbidden. The number of Chinese Canadians entering university also increased. This was also the period when Chinese Canadians were allowed to vote. We also saw the development of Chinatowns across Canada.
